The M.A.S.S. Spare Tire Platform Mini turns the space above a smaller rear-mounted spare into a compact exterior cargo deck. It gives you a place for trail gear, recovery equipment, or cargo that is better carried outside the cabin, without adding a roof rack.

Compact Cargo Storage Above The Spare
The STP Mini follows the tire instead of the vehicle body. That makes it a practical spare tire rack for Jeep Wranglers and other off-road vehicles that meet the tire and carrier requirements. The smaller footprint is built for rigs that do not need the full-size M.A.S.S. Spare Tire Platform or do not have a large enough spare to support it.
We build the STP Mini in the USA from 1/8-inch 5052 aluminum. The platform straps to the spare, so installation does not require drilling a vehicle-specific rack into the body.
The 38.5-inch-wide platform is designed for most 27- to 35-inch tires.
1/8-inch 5052 aluminum provides a useful cargo surface without turning the rear of the vehicle into a steel parts pile.
Use the deck for dry boxes, duffels, recovery gear, firewood, and other equipment you want outside the cabin.
Mounting And Carrier Requirements
For the most stable setup, run straps around the circumference of the tire and laterally through the wheel. Routing the lateral straps through the wheel is the preferred method. Most 1-inch ratchet straps can work, or you can select the optional STP Ratchet Strap Kit for a platform-specific setup.
The tire carrier is part of the load system. The shelf is designed to support up to 100 pounds when the load is spread evenly across the platform, but the safe working limit depends heavily on the spare-tire carrier and its attachment to the vehicle. Use a sturdy swing-out tire carrier for maximum capacity, not a spare mounted directly to the tailgate. Count the platform, accessories, and cargo when checking the carrier’s limit.

Set It Up For Your Tire And Cargo
Secure The Platform
Traditional 1-inch ratchet straps can be used. The optional STP Ratchet Strap Kit provides a clean, efficient way to secure the platform to the tire.
Level An Angled Spare
If the spare leans with the tire carrier, use the optional Camber Kit to level the STP Mini and create a more useful cargo surface.
The side cutouts were designed to work with the Rock-Slide Engineering EZ Rack. Compatible M.A.S.S. mounting points also make it easier to secure cargo or add purpose-built accessories without improvising attachment points.
Common Questions
Will The STP Mini Fit My Spare Tire?
The STP Mini is designed for most 27- to 35-inch rear-mounted spare tires. Check the available space above and around the tire, brake-light clearance, the tire angle, and the capacity of the tire carrier before ordering.
How Is The Platform Attached?
Secure it with ratchet straps around the tire and laterally through the wheel. Running the lateral straps through the wheel is the preferred method for maximum stability.
Are Mounting Straps Included?
The STP Ratchet Strap Kit is optional. You can use traditional 1-inch ratchet straps, but the platform still needs both circumferential and lateral restraint.
When Should I Choose The Full-Size STP?
Choose the full-size M.A.S.S. Spare Tire Platform when you have a larger spare and need its wider, deeper cargo area. The STP Mini is the better starting point for most 27- to 35-inch tires or when a smaller rear footprint fits the build better.
Does The STP Mini Work With The AEV Fuel Caddy?
No. The AEV Fuel Caddy wraps too far over the top of the spare tire, so it interferes with the STP Mini and does not leave the clearance needed to mount the platform correctly.
