Lockable 5LB Propane Tank Mount for Overland and Camp Setups
This 5LB propane tank mount gives a compact camp-fuel bottle a real home on your rig, trailer, or camp kitchen setup instead of letting it bounce around with the rest of the loose gear.
The mount is made from 5052 aluminum to keep weight down while still giving the bottle a secure cradle. A stainless steel draw latch closes the clamp quickly, the latch can accept a padlock, and the built-in security flanges make the bottle harder to tamper with once it is locked in place.
It is a fixed-diameter mount, not an adjustable strap. That is intentional. The mount is built around a 205 mm (8 in) bottle diameter so the propane tank sits cleanly in the cradle with the included edge trim installed.
The 5052 aluminum body keeps the mount light, while the upper clamp and lower cradle control the bottle instead of relying on a loose strap.
The stainless draw latch opens fast when you need the bottle, then closes back down without a pile of extra hardware.
The mount can be reversed so the latch opens from the side that makes sense for your vehicle, rack, trailer, or storage layout.
Tank Fitment
This mount is built for tanks with a 205 mm (8 in) diameter. We have tested it with the Ignik 5LB tank and the FlameKing 5LB tank we have had in the shop, and those bottles have matched the diameter this mount was designed around.
That does not mean every product sold as a 5 lb propane tank will fit. Third-party listings can change, substitutions happen, and some sellers ship a different bottle than the one shown on the product page. If you are sourcing the tank somewhere else, order the bottle first and verify the diameter before ordering the mount.
Important: the 5LB Propane Tank Mount only works with tanks that measure 205 mm (8 in) in diameter.
Dimensions and Mounting Pattern
The diagrams below are intentionally shown smaller here so the page is easier to scan. Tap or click either image to open the larger version.
Assembly Edge and Trim
The mount ships without the edge trim installed. Install the trim before loading the bottle so the clamp has the right contact and tension against the tank.
Trim placement
The long trim pieces should start right at the edge of the clamp near either end. If you start them away from the edge, they will run long before you make it around the clamp.
Trim included: two long pieces and four short pieces.
Finish Options
Choose raw aluminum if you want the bare fabricated look, or textured black powder coat if you want a darker finished part that blends in with a rack, trailer, or cargo-area build. Both versions use the same mount design and fit the same 205 mm bottle diameter.

FAQ
Will this fit every 5 lb propane tank?
No. It is built for tanks that measure 205 mm (8 in) in diameter. Verify your bottle diameter before ordering if you are not using one of the tanks listed above.
Does it fit the Ignik 5LB propane tank?
Yes. The Ignik 5LB Propane Tank we have tested in-house matches the diameter this mount is built around.
Can the mount be locked?
The stainless steel draw latch is padlock-capable. A padlock is sold separately unless selected as an add-on.
Can the latch open from either side?
Yes. The mount is reversible, so you can orient it for left- or right-hand access based on how it fits your vehicle, rack, trailer, or camp kitchen layout.
Made in Utah
We develop and manufacture this mount in-house at American Adventure Lab in St. George, Utah. That keeps the details close: the bottle fit, latch behavior, edge trim, mounting pattern, and finish options all stay tied to the way customers actually build overland rigs and camp systems.

This American Adventure Lab Propane Tank Mount holds my 5# tank to my roof rack like a BOSS!! Well-crafted and looks great too! Love the padlock option that keeps it secure. If you decide to get the powder coated option like I did, be prepared to wait a bit as it took about a month to receive mine. A great thought for AAL would be to have an in-house powder coating set up to cut down on lead times.
