Built to Keep the Handles Quiet
Loose jack handles are a rattle waiting to happen. We use edge molding on the handle brackets and offset the two storage positions to keep both handle halves snug against the underside of the jack. Two Diameters. One Snug Fit.
The protective foam makes one handle half larger in diameter than the other. Giving both halves the same seating height would leave uneven contact. Our brackets account for that difference, so both halves make proper contact with the bottom of the jack when it is secured in the mount. The edge molding cushions the handle supports to help control rattling and vibration.Foam Half Over the Rectangular Cutout
Place the foam-covered handle half in the bracket position with the extra rectangular cutout. Use the other position for the plain handle half. That orientation gives the two halves the correct height offset and keeps them from moving beneath the jack.
How the Handle Supports Work
- Foam-Covered Handle Half: The foam increases its diameter, so it needs a different seating height.
- Rectangular Cutout: Identifies the bracket position for the foam-covered half.
- Contact With the Jack: The offset supports align both handle halves against the underside of the jack.
- Plain Handle Half: Uses the other bracket position to account for its smaller diameter.
- Edge Molding: Cushions the handle supports to help control rattling and vibration.
Lock It With an Optional Padlock
The included hitch pin accepts an optional padlock through its retaining hole. Remove the R clip and pass the padlock shackle through that hole to lock the pin in place.Choosing Your Own Lock
Use a padlock with a 3/16-inch shackle diameter. That is the size to look for if you prefer your own keyed lock. The hitch pin and R clip are included; the padlock is optional and is not included.
Padlock Hardware Shown Above
- Included Hitch Pin: Holds the retaining bar in position.
- Padlock Shackle: Passes through the hole in the hitch pin, replacing the R clip.
- Optional Padlock: Choose a lock with a 3/16-inch shackle diameter. The padlock is not included.
Keep the Allen Wrench Along for the Ride
The Allen wrench used to install the jack extension should stay with the jack while you are fully getting it. We built a small cradle into the bracket that tucks behind the wrench release button, making the wrench harder to remove while the jack is mounted.Tuck the Cradle Behind the Release Button
When loading the jack, make sure the bracket cradle seats behind the Allen wrench release button before securing the jack in the mount. If the cradle is not behind the button, the wrench can work itself loose during rough driving. Check that engagement each time you load the jack.
Correctly Seated in the Mount
- Release Button: Releases the stored Allen wrench.
- Bracket Cradle: Tucks behind the button to help retain the wrench while the jack is mounted.
- Allen Wrench: Stored on the jack and used to install the extension.
