The VersaTable Was A Hit at SEMA!
We had several media outlets stop by to check out the new VersaTable. It definitely seemed to receive outstanding marks from the industry at the SEMA Show.
Table Insert Options
We have two options for the insert that goes into the table. Both options go through the same cutting process on our CNC router.
- Wood (Poplar) – This option provides a more traditional wood look and is coated with a gray stain and sealed with polyurethane. The “darkness” of the stain varies slightly with this option based on the grain.
- Bamboo – this is a composite bamboo plank and provides a surface similar to that of cutting boards. This is a harder material than the wood option. It also smells great! The bamboo is sealed with butcher block oil.

Important Powder Coating Note
Powder coating is a manual process done by humans and may take some time. When you purchase powder coated products from AAL, we coat them for your order. Occasionally, that means delays with non-standard colors, resprays for less-than-perfect conditions, etc. We have a very high standard with powder coated products. We will work to get your parts coated in the best condition possible before they leave the building.
Please visit our Powder Coating Page for more info.

We met with Mac’s Custom Tie Downs at SEMA to see what new products they have hitting the market. They showed us the new VersaHook, which instantly found a home on our tailgate table. We changed the top row of the MOLLE panel on the rear of the table to accept all of our normal MASS connectors, which now includes the VersaTie Hook. It will be perfect to hang utensils, cups, etc.
I will post up new photos of the table with the updated pattern in it as soon as we get some put together.

After a long wait for the release of the JK VersaTable, I was so excited to see it arrive at my door December 6th. I discovered American Adventure Labs in 2019. I was going to buy another tailgate table, but saw the JL version of AAL and really liked it. I followed AAL on Instagram and was hopeful a JK version would come out within a short amount of time. What seemed like eternity, the newsletter of Oct ’21 said they would be available soon. I ordered mine 2 days after the release and got it on December 6th. I was so excited to finally have one I opened the well packaged box to find no instructions. I looked at the setup and thought between my sons and I (all modified jeep owners), we could handle the install.
The first attempt was not successful. Without directions included (mine was sent without any – most likely since it was one of the first orders), we ended up not getting it installed.
I called AAL and they apologized for no directions and said to wait for the install video to come out. After about 2 weeks the install video came out. Unfortunately it wasn’t very informative and left many questions unanswered. I recruited one of my sons to try our second attempt. Another fail. We got close to thinking we had it, but of the 8 mounting bolts, 2 did not tighten to the bracket and we stripped several others. Later, after getting the directions I learned that most of the shipped table needs to be disassembled before installing. That made our first attempts not go well. A trip to the hardware store and some fresh and longer bolts, I was ready to try again.
More emails and several calls later, I had luck getting Brit to give me his direct line, but couldn’t reach him. It was during the Christmas holidays so I can’t blame him. Today I called Crystal and she was extremely helpful! She said the directions had come out and promptly emailed them to me. I immediately started my 3rd install attempt by myself and within about 2 hours had it done (including the wiring). I am very happy with it.
The quality of the product is outstanding. It was worth the wait. The only thing I would say was shipping a product without instructions or a install video available is asking for headaches on both the consumer and AAL’s end. Overall, I think this was worth the wait and frustrating install.
My advice: I would redo the install video and include more details. The written directions are very helpful and were easy to follow. They could be a little more detailed regarding the 8 locking bolts the need to be removed and specifics for those not comfortable with wiring.
The customer service was excellent and I think this product it one of the finest on the market.
If I could have installed this without any problems I would have given this a 5 star review!

Hey Kendall, first off, thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review. We really appreciate it. Secondly, I personally, take full responsibility for the lack of instructions for your table. I thought I would be able to get them finished before the shipment arrived to your door, but I bit off more than I could chew. You’re exactly right about that. The install is pretty basic, but without instructions, it’s hard to know that. I apologize for the churn that created on your end. As our business evolves and we are able to get more hands into the system, we will be able to mature these products more before they go out the door. It has been a whirlwind of growth here and unfortunately, that means I have dropped some balls along the way. I greatly appreciate your understanding and your support. Thank you! We will do better! Check your email. I sent you a little something…

This thing looks like it is an OEM option from the factory. Complete pain in the rear to install, BUT the brackets are way better than nut-serts or those cheap plastic clips !! And once it’s on, it’s not moving. It is a two person job and I highly recommend waiting to use the bottle opener until it’s bolted down tight.
My only regret is not “color coordinating” with my Jeep. Ordered all black and should’ve gone with a white molle panel.
Y’all did an amazing job designing this thing, and for Jeep owners everywhere…. WE THANK YOU !!
