Well, somebody had to do it, I guess. My son and I headed out this morning to break in the new Can-Am Maverick X3 X RC (award for the longest UTV model name). To do so, we entered the 10th Annual Sand Hollow State Park Poker Run. With my son’s inability to draw good cards and my lack of understanding of Poker, we knew we were doomed from the start.
After throwing all of the checkpoints into the GPS, and updating our trail maps from CartoTracks, we took off. As suspected, our hand wasn’t turning out well, but were were knocking off checkpoint after checkpoint. “It isn’t a race”, is what was going through my head, but that wasn’t making it all the way down to my throttle foot. We had a great time seeing some more of the Sand Hollow State Park trail system and look forward to heading back out in the next couple of days. It’s amazing to have this OHV park so close to our home.
We ended up with a terrible hand, as expected, but we had a blast and won a free pizza from Little Caesars in the raffle! I’m pretty sure out of all of the prizes there today, my son would have chosen the pizza anyway.
By the way, the 2019Can Am Maverick X3 X RC is an amazing machine. More on that to come in the future.
